Polycarbonate and BPA.

LIPAVI Containers and lids are made from Polycarbonate, which is a crystal clear and very strong plastic material. All polycarbonate products contain minute quantities of Bisphenol A (BPA). We understand that many people are concerned about this, and we would like to give you some information about Polycarbonate and BPA.

Research shows that the potential migration of BPA from polycarbonate into food is extremely low. To put it simply; a person would have to consume over 1322 lbs (or about 600kg) of food or beverages in contact with polycarbonate every single day for a lifetime to exceed the safe limit for BPA set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The FDA, the European Commission's Scientific Committee on Food, the United Kingdom Food Standards Agency, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, and other regulatory authorities worldwide all recognize polycarbonate plastic as safe for use in food contact applications. When using our products as intended for sous vide, there is furthermore absolutely no contact between the food and the polycarbonate, reducing the already extremely low migration of BPA to zero.
